Spirituality & Self‑Discovery: My Path, My Practice

I was just thinking about uploading content straight away, but then an introduction not only felt right, but it was also looming in my brain.

Magic, for me, is where I intend to share my spiritual side and (hopefully) bring information that serves your highest good.

Personally, I see spirituality—and the many practices it encompasses, as tools for reflection that lead to self‑discovery, a deeper understanding of the world around you, and sometimes even comfort.

If there is something that has really helped me through thick and thin these last few years, it is definitely my spirituality.

And that really sounds woo‑woo, right? Especially given how our society works nowadays.

But I think I live it much more loosely than what you’d imagine when you think of traditional religious practices.

So… let’s try to set these apart and give you some of my background.

Background

If you’re not here for the cutscene, feel free to skip ahead. I won’t take it personally. Promise.

I am mixed. I grew up in a pretty open environment: the Spanish side was mostly Catholic, and the Japanese side mostly Buddhist.

I went to a hardcore Catholic school (formerly only‑girls’ school with nuns living there) and later did my first degree at a Presbyterian institution. I was never religious. Always enchanted by more occult topics, though... mostly pagan, but I never delved deeply into anything.

Which reminds me: when I was pretty young, I asked my mom if I could join the catechesis group at school. She said no. “You grow up and figure out first what you believe in, then you can join whatever.” Mom follows Spiritism, by the way. Thanks, Mom—as an adult, I see that was a great call.

And I also see what had drawn me to that group: it was much more about the community than the studies themselves.

I kept my interest in esoteric practices, but that was quickly… buried when I started spending time with people who not only didn’t have any beliefs but also had strong opinions about it. They didn’t mock it, but the vibe was enough to make me explore it less.

But I slowly came back to it as soon as I wasn’t with them anymore. For young me: Silly you—no one who loves you should ever stand between you and your beliefs. But it’s okay. You didn’t know any better.

And life happens. We often drop certain things to give space to others and only later realize the value of what we set aside.

Funny thing is, even though I wasn’t practicing or studying anything at that time, I later noticed I was still connected to something greater anyway.

Setting those apart

For me, spirituality is a broader concept. It’s an inner orientation. It doesn’t have much structure, it’s deeply individual, and it’s simply the connection to something larger than ourselves.

Religion, meanwhile, has doctrines, rituals, structured practices, and moral frameworks shared within a community.

You can certainly be spiritual without following a religion. Which is basically my case. I’m not picky with my practices or what I believe in. If it’s good, I’m good.

So… because spirituality has made me better, I’m here to share.

I’m not here to preach. Not here to say what is right or wrong, better or worse. I’m here to share my knowledge in hopes it can benefit you.

My practice takes many forms. Here, I’ll probably be sharing more related to tarot, with some sprinkles of esoteric stuff.

And no—I know what you’re thinking. Well… you might be thinking “bullsh*t,” or that I’m here trying to be a charlatan predicting the future.

As I said before, for me it’s more of a reflection tool. Even though tarot is closely related to divinatory practices, I don’t often use it for predictions.

Why? It’s fun, don’t get me wrong, but my core belief is that energy is dynamic. Whatever you read right now is already affected by the fact that you’ve just read it.

So yes, it’s really cool when you get something (or the gist of something) right, but… unfortunately I cannot tell you the winning lottery numbers. For me, the core concept of “reading energies” is already more of a miss than a hit. Really fun, though.

You can find people on the internet snooping around. I’ll leave the ethics of that to you. But I can say this: free will goes both ways, you cannot see what is not supposed to be known.

Anyway, I’m babbling by now.
